Pineapple Spinach Smoothie (anti-bloating)

For a long time, anti-bloat smoothies have been my go-to homemade remedy to reduce bloating. With the right combination of ingredients, smoothies can reduce bloating. This spinach smoothie and a papaya and mint smoothie are two of my favorites!

This refreshing green smoothie is naturally sweet. With a kick of spiciness from the ginger, and packed with nutrients and anti-bloating compounds from the celery, ginger, and papaya seeds. The spinach and flaxseed add a boost of vitamins, omega 3, and iron. See more on the nutrition section below!

Besides being healthy and great for digestive care, this pineapple green smoothie is sweet, refreshing, and so delicious! A healthy green smoothie packed with all the nutrients you need.

Ingredients:


1 cup spinach

1 celery stick

½ inch piece of ginger

1 cup pineapple

1.5 cups water

2 tsp ground flaxseeds

½ lime

½ tsp papaya seeds

Optional toppings: chia seeds, shredded coconut, or sunflower seeds.


Directions:


  1. In a blender, add the spinach, celery stick cut into medium pieces, ginger, pineapple, papaya seeds, lime juice, ground flaxseed, and water. Blend until smooth.

  2. Serve with chia seeds, shredded coconut, or sunflower seeds as toppings.

Notes:


- Optional: Top it with delicious and crunchy granola.

- Add a banana for a creamier consistency and one extra serving.

* Spinach is low in carbs but high in insoluble fiber. This type of fiber may benefit your digestion. It’s also an extremely nutrient-rich vegetable. It packs high amounts of carotenoids, vitamin C, vitamin K, folic acid, iron, and calcium. Spinach has a host of benefits. It may reduce oxidative stress, promote eye health, fight cancer, and regulate blood pressure.


*Pineapple is packed with nutrients, antioxidants, and enzymes that can fight inflammation, aid the immune system, and improve digestion.

They are especially rich in vitamin C and manganese, providing 131% and 76% of the daily recommendations, respectively.

Pineapples contain bromelain, a group of digestive enzymes that breaks down proteins. This may aid digestion, especially in those with pancreatic insufficiency. It's also believed that pineapples may have diuretic effects.


*Celery: celery’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits support a healthy digestive tract and may improve the stomach lining.


*Ginger: Gingerol is the main compound in ginger, responsible for many of its medicinal properties including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. It also speeds up the emptying of the stomach, which can help ease indigestion and stomach pain.


*Papaya seeds are a good source of many important nutrients, including antioxidants, monounsaturated fats, and fiber. Studies have found that papaya seeds could help fight infections, promote kidney health, protect against cancer, and enhance digestive health.
